US ports have reopened following tropical storm Isaias, after closures earlier in the week at the east coast wood pellet export facilities of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Norfolk, Virginia.

The US Coast Guard has restricted vessel traffic to daylight operations only at Wilmington.

The North Carolina and Virginia port authorities closed Wilmington and Norfolk on 3 August, as the storm approached. It made landfall in southern North Carolina as a category one hurricane and was then downgraded to a tropical storm.

The storm “inflicted damage” at Wilmington, the North Carolina State Ports Authority said today. It declared force majeure on 4 August, stating that it is “not responsible for any damage to customers’ cargo or property” caused by the storm.
